Microplate References
Starna spectroscopy CRMs, customised for the performance qualification of plate readers. A plate reader adaptor is also available to enable the use of conventional Starna liquid cell and solid filter references in plate readers.
Sealed Cell Microplate Reference
Six heat-sealed liquid wavelength and absorbance CRMs in a 96-well microplate.
Six Starna NIST traceable glass filter wavelength and absorbance CRMs in a 96-well microplate
Allows Starna standard format liquid cell or filter CRMs to be used with plate readers.
Microplate Fluorometer Qualification
Starna Fluorescence Reference Plates
96-well microplates containing stable inorganic fluorescent reference materials. Formerly manufactured and supplied by Matech, USA.
Sealed Cell UV Plate Reader Reference
Purpose
Confidence in Every Well. Calibration You Can Count On.
In regulated labs, precision isn’t a bonus—it’s the baseline. Starna’s Sealed Cell UV Plate Reader Reference takes the guesswork out of UV-Vis calibration for 96-well microplate readers. It delivers fast, traceable, full-spectrum validation.
Description and Discussion
A Certified Calibration Standard Built for Compliance and Convenience.
Calibrating microplate readers doesn’t have to be a hassle—or a liability. Starna’s sealed-cell reference plate comes pre-filled, permanently sealed, and ready to go. No pipetting. No mixing. No evaporation. Just accurate, ISO-traceable measurements from 235–640 nm.
Patented Bubble Trap Technology.
This built-in design innovation neutralises optical errors caused by meniscus bubbles, one of the most common sources of variability in microplate measurements. With the Bubble Trap in place, your data stays sharp and your compliance airtight.
Certified to ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 standards, this reference material is more than qualified for use in GMP, pharmaceutical QA/QC, biotech R&D, and high-stakes assay verification. Plus, it’s compatible with automation and backed by lifetime recertification.

Glass Filter - Visible Qualification Microplate
Purpose
This reference uses Starna’s proven and universally accepted UV and visiblereference materials for the qualificationof 96-well plate readers.
Description and Discussion
This device contains six Starna glass filter CRMs in a blackanodised aluminium microplate, manufactured to the Society of Biomolecular Screening (SBS) dimensional standards for a 96-well plate. Neutral Density Filters are used to qualify the absorbance scale and holmium oxide glass for wavelength. Full details, spectra, etc. of the individual reference materials may be found in the appropriate Starna data sheets.
The standard product has the following configuration of reference position and CRM:
Position | Reference |
C2 - H2 |
Air blank |
C4 - H4 |
Neutral Density Glass - 30%/T (0.5 Absorbance) |
C6 - H6 |
Neutral Density Glass - 10%/T (1.0 Absorbance) |
C8 - H8 |
Neutral Density Glass - 3%/T (1.5 Absorbance) |
C10 - H10 |
Neutral Density Glass - 1%/T (2.0 Absorbance) |
C12 - H12 |
Holmium Glass |
Absorbance values are certified at 440, 465, 546.1, 590 and 635nm for the neutral density filters.
The holmium filter has 11 certified peak values between 240 nm to 640 nm.
Any standard format Starna solid filter CRM is available in theStarna microplate format.
Microplate Adapter
Purpose
This convenient device allows Starna standard format sealed liquid cell or glass filter CRMs to be used to qualify 96-well microplate readers.
Description and Discussion
Made of injected molded black polymer, the device conforms to Society of Biomolecular Screening (SBS) dimensional standards for a 96-well plate and can accommodate any six standard format Starna cell- or filter-based CRMs.
